I was pretty unhappy at the thought of being a single mom at church for the first time. We have 1:00-4:00 church, which is right during Eli's nap, so he often gets a bit cranky. I thought tackling a wiggly, whiny toddler solo would be downright miserable, and I was dreading the afternoon ahead.
My attitude changed, however, after I picked Eli up from his pre-church "nap" and saw his happy face smiling up at me. I realized right then that I was lucky, because I was getting to spend my Mother's Day one-on-one with my favorite little person who made me a mom--my son.
We arrived at church early (which absolutely NEVER happens), and Eli was of course very excited to see everyone and pointed out people galore. The kid who is often a little tough to keep contained and content was gone, replaced by a very calm, loving, and engaged child. All three hours of church went perfectly, and I think it was the most I've heard the talks and lessons since he was born! : )
When we came back home David was feeling better, so we went outside for a small Mother's Day photoshoot. David has recently taken an interest in photography, selling his fancy dress shoes to buy a used Canon 20D. It was a gorgeous day, and we were pleased with how the pictures turned out.
Eli was smacking his lips together to blow Daddy a kiss. : )
I spent my Mother's Day basking in the joy of my sweet boy.
Nothing could have been better than that. : )

oh my gosh Laura...being a mom looks good on you!!!
