5 Months!

Clara turned 5 months old on Christmas.  Not much has really changed since her 4 months post, but I at least wanted to post recent pictures and videos.

Clothes: 6 Months in everything, though jammies are getting too short.  (I think she's had a big growth spurt lately)

Diapers: Still size 2

Temperament: Clara is a smiley, happy baby.  She's generally pretty quiet, too, until she gets tired or hungry. 

She's been giggling a lot more recently, so cute!

Sleep/Feeding: We've been trying to put Clara to bed earlier, before 7:00, since she's never able to get a good late afternoon nap.  Even so, she's still crying soon after putting her down, and takes a lot of David soothing her before she finally settles down to sleep.  She wakes for a 1:30 feeding and then again around 5:00, then up for good a little after 7.  She's down for a morning nap at 8:45, sleeps a couple hours, then takes another nap at 12:30, for 2-3 hours.  I try putting her down for a third time, but that one's hard to get.  I'd say I'm nursing every 3 hours during the day.  

We attempted to not swaddle Clara and have her sleep in the crib for the first time, but it was a major fail!  After 3 hours of crying we gave up and swaddled her up and put her back in the bassinet (I don't want to leave her swaddled in the crib, with dangers of rolling over and getting stuck).  We REALLY want to break her from the swaddle.  She's just way too big for it, and it is a MAJOR pain to swaddle her every time she sleeps.  

We began feeding her rice cereal.  She hated it at first and just gagged, but it wasn't long before she was eating pretty well.

Activity: For a while it seemed like Clara was preparing to start crawling!  She was getting up off her tummy all the time, and got pretty good at scooting around (most backward and some sideways).  But lately she hasn't tried this much, and just seems more content to sit and chew on her fingers.  : )  She is able to sit up on her own for a couple minutes, though she is bent over while doing it, not sitting straight up.  I just started putting her in her jumperoo and she really enjoys playing in it.  Clara is very interested in, and reaches for everything around her.
