Scaredy-Cat

For as long as I can remember I have been deathly afraid of spiders.  It's ridiculous.  As soon as I see one I completely freak out, and then for the next several days I am in constant fear that I'll see one again!  Every time I walk in a room I glance around to make sure I don't see a spider.

As I was working in the nursery today I noticed there was a spider on the wall!  Go figure.  They just have to show themselves when David's not home and can come to my rescue.  I stopped what I was doing and was frozen in place.  It was a pretty small one, so as I stood frozen I tried talking myself into killing it.  I knew if it didn't get butchered then and there, then I'd REALLY be worrying non-stop about it.

I finally managed to move my feet and went in search of a shoe to smack the spider with (not one of mine of course).  I came back with David's shoe in my hand, and then proceeded to stand there and watch it move all over the place.  (Throughout all of this, Eli was sitting in his bouncer, hopefully not yet realizing what a nutty mother he has.)  But I couldn't do it.  I just could not bring myself that close to the evil thing.  So yes, I will now be living in fear until the spider has been caught.  Darn my wimpy self!!

  1. Maybe wasp spray would work for you -- it is accurate with a range of up to 20 feet. It might also take the paint of the wall :-). And there might be a warnings about using it indoors, near human beings, pets, potted plants, delicate fabrics, and other picky stuff, but at least you'd have high confidence of a killing the spider from across the room.
