Clara is now 15 months, and...officially walking!! (Actually, she still crawls quite a bit, but every day is walking longer distances and more often). It was a long process with Clara. Around 13 months she finally began trying to stand on her own. She took her first few steps about the 2nd week of October, so when she was not yet 15 months. She'd always lean too forward, so she'd never last very long. Her posture's becoming much straighter while walking, and she's feeling more confident on her feet (less of the tipsy walk).
Enjoyed lots and lots of park time and walks this Fall!
Videos of helping Clara stand on her own, and of Eli "walking" Clara--
Clara took her 1st bath in the big tub in September! She and Eli had a couple baths together. They were so fun to watch! She LOVES bath time!
Clara loves to climb onto the rocking chair, stand up, and rock. No fear! She easily climbs on the couch, our bed, and the coffee table.
She also really enjoys Eli's cars. She loves to line them up on the couch, just like he always used to do. Or she'll drive them across her belly.
A few weeks ago Clara had a high fever, but no other symptoms that I could see, besides loss of appetite and wanting to sleep more. I thought she had another UTI. When I took her into the dr. she was too nervous to pee in the bag that they attached to her, so they had to use a catheter. :( She looked right in my eyes and cried such big crocodile tears, it was the saddest thing. Thankfully she had no UTI. Instead she and Eli passed around some kind of virus(es) for 3 weeks. Yuck.
Clara's new stats are:
Height: 31.5'' (80th%)
Weight: 21 lbs. (50th%)
Head: 46.4 cm (70th%)
Teeth: 4 on top and 2 on bottom (with more coming in)
Diaper: Size 3
Clothes: 12-18 months
Nicknames: Clara-belle, Clairey, Clarence (only Dave calls her that), Claire-bear
Clara is a strong, healthy girl. She likes to show you just how strong she is by showing off her muscles. : ) For the past month, Eli's been really into showing his "muscles," and gets a kick out of our expressive reactions to how "big" they are. Clara picked up on this, and now always wants to impress us as well. : )
She loves to eat, but is definitely becoming a much pickier eater (though thankfully not near as picky as her brother). Her favorite foods are blueberries, bananas, fruit pouches, honey-glazed carrots, scrambled eggs, and raspberry muffins. She's become a huge frustration to me during meal times because she often throws her food. I try to take her tray away as soon as I see it happening, but she still manages to get plenty of food on the floor. Clara's also showing more of that dramatic side we witnessed when she was a newborn. She'll throw herself onto the floor and kick her legs in a fit. She'll also scream when she gets impatient/doesn't get her way. (She's not always like this. Generally she's as sweet as pie. But she definitely has her moods, or "off"days.) On those "off" times she will be a royal mess, only not crying if I'm holding her. The usual time that happens is late afternoon, the last 1-2 hours before Dave comes home. I'm sure a big portion of that fussiness is hunger-related.
Clara's also been doing a little talking! Her favorite word is most definitely "dada." She's a Daddy's girl all the way. She usually only says "mama" when she's sad or tired. Here are her other words:
go
cheese
bye-bye (with a cute open/shut wave
doh (for no) while shaking her head
Jesus
doll
She also makes a "woof woof" sound whenever she sees a dog, which she's obsessed with.
Clara is a great hugger, a little tornado (she creates a very big mess in no time at all), and a fun and exasperating girl! Catch her walking here:
