Halloween

We never managed pumpkin carving due to me being sick, but we did take the kids out for a fun night of trick-or-treating!  There was a chance of rain, but thankfully it held off until the very end.  It was a mild night so the kids didn't have to cover up their costumes in coats (soo much different than last year)!

I thought and stewed over costume ideas for the kids for far too many hours, looking up so many ideas online and thinking too hard about it.  Finally I decided they'd each wear something out of the dress-up box.  So we had Fireman Eli (purchased him a much sturdier helmet, but everything else he had), and Little Pumpkin Clara (her 2nd year of wearing Eli's hand-me-down costume, but she pulls it off in such a cute way)!
Eli anxiously awaiting for us to head out!

Clara was a pro at trick-or-treating!  Eli pretty much ran to every house.  She'd chug along after him, head up to the door with a loud "HI!!" sometimes say her "trick-or-treat," but often just stuck her hand right in the bowl and started digging out some candy for herself.  Everyone loved them!

The best part of the night was when the firetruck drove through our neighborhood.  They were sure impressed with Eli's costume, and he was THRILLED to see them.  They gave him some candy and told him they liked his costume.  The smile on his face tells it all.  Later on we passed by them again and they stopped and gave the Lil' Firefighter more candy.  : )

I am a Room Mom for Eli's class, and was in charge of helping  plan and put on a Fall party.  I made pumpkin sugar cookies (in the middle of the night) but found the best recipe that didn't make them a huge pain (and they were super soft and yummy!).  Clara was so excited to get to be in Eli's classroom and play with all the dolls.  The kids all decorated and ate their cookies first, then we split them into groups and they did a Pumpkin Ring Toss, played Fall Bingo, and made a Tissue Paper Pumpkin.  All the kids had fun, and I loved participating in Eli's classroom and watching him enjoy himself.

Yes, it was a happy Halloween!
