Because of my rough time with my pregnancy, my mom so generously offered to host Eli's birthday party at her house. This was a tremendous blessing for me. I was so sick and miserable and the house was always in disarray that I couldn't fathom being able to hold a party. She unloaded a heavy burden from my shoulders.
It was a small, low-key party, with just the four of us and both sets of grandparents. Eli picked out his decorations, choosing Army Camo theme. :) (he also chose an army water bottle, army men, and whistle for early birthday gifts).
We ate dinner and then did presents and cake and ice cream.

| My mom made the name blocks and cake for him, and David designed the army helmet. |
| Some fun hanging decorations |
| Eli received some cool toys and gear based off of one of his favorite shows, Wild Kratts--night vision goggles, fanny pack, several creature power discs, character action figures, and for Christmas a creature power suit. He was VERY into it all, and so focused on that first set of gifts that it took a while to get him to keep opening his other presents. ;) |
| Clara wanted to give the googles a turn, too. ;) |
| Eli was also so excited for his new policeman costume! (Which he wore to school one day.) |
| Grandpa helping Eli put on his gear. |
I really struggled during Eli's party, so we sadly and regretfully didn't get a picture of Mom and Dad with him! :( But we were there, and it was such fun to watch him so gleefully enjoy it all. Happy Birthday, Eli!
