32 Weeks

I've been wanting to get a pregnancy post done sooner, but the past month was so filled with sickness that I didn't get the chance!  I had a week with a really sore throat, then ended up with a horrible case of double pink eye.  I've had pink eye a few times before, but this time was so much worse.  Pools and pools of pus were constantly in my eye.  Eli was at the beginning of what ended up being a terrible case of influenza, but I dragged them both to CVS Minute Clinic that morning because I knew I needed to get on a prescription ASAP.  I had to take an eye ointment this time, and it was SUCH a nuisance!  It really blurred my vision for long periods of time (4 xs a day!), which was very frustrating to deal with on top of Eli's sickness and everything to manage.

This sickness started our first day of Spring Break.  Eli pretty much laid low that Friday-Tuesday. Didn't play at all, just stayed on the couch.  He had a fever, a miserable cough (which lasted a LONG time), diarrhea, runny nose, and was pretty much the sickest I've ever seen him.  He coughed so often and so hard that it really hurt his stomach and made him cry.  It broke my heart when he'd ask in a pleading, begging voice, "When am I gonna get better?  I can't be sick forever!"  He asked for a blessing, which David gave to him.  Lots of family said they'd also pray for him.  It was hard for him then to still continue being sick.  He didn't understand why he wasn't improving after the blessing and prayers.

Even though he was very upset and miserable, I managed to take him into the doctor on Tuesday.  They recommended giving him an allergy medicine that would dry up his nose to help with his cough.  We started giving him Claritin and it really did make a difference!  His cough continued for many days and nights, but definitely improved.

I picked up the horrible cough around Tuesday.  By Thursday afternoon I was a complete mess.  I had a fever, chills, and felt very very sick.  Friday David took the day off (a very big sacrifice for him being near the end of busy season), as I was in such bad shape.  I stayed in bed about all day.  My parents called me and offered to pick up the kids and keep them for the weekend.  I had to consent and was so thankful for them to be able to do so.  Late Friday David went into work and my dad picked up the kids.

I stayed down all Saturday as well.  My cough was so painful, I had a bunch of congestion, and was so dehydrated from having to keep my mouth open all the time.  It was the sickest I'd remembered feeling.  Of course being pregnant might have had something to do with that.  My fever broke on Saturday and that helped me feel a bit better.  The bad cough and congestion continued on for quite a while, but thankfully eventually went away.  To finish up the fun bout of illness, I got an ear infection.  Luckily it mostly just felt full for a few days and only caused pain one night.

Crazy sickness!  I'm hoping that with warmer weather here now that the germs can give us a nice long break!

This pregnancy has been going pretty well!  No serious complaints, so that's good.  :)  I generally feel all right through the day, then pretty achy in the evening.  David is kind enough to give me back rubs.  My blood work at my 27-week appointment showed that I had low iron and low thyroid, so I started medicine for both.  I can definitely feel an improvement in my energy since being on those medicines.  Good weather probably plays a role in my energy level, too.  I'm glad to be able to have the energy to take the kids out to walk and play at parks.  But the energy doesn't always last long enough for me to get as much cleaning done as I should.  ;)

The best part of this pregnancy is definitely the kids' excitement about it.  Both kids love cuddling up to my stomach, rubbing it, and talking to "Baby Bob."  Clara always tells everyone the baby will come out "in June."  Eli tells me regularly how he can't wait for Baby Bob to be here.  He says he's going to share a car with him.  :)  Eli likes to ask the baby questions such as, "Did you have a good shower, Bob?"  and wonders things such as, "I wonder what Bob's favorite animal at the zoo was?"  Clara is SUCH a baby lover already.  Everywhere we go if there's a baby she makes a beeline for it.  When babies cry she becomes very worried, and if she's close enough she'll try to give that baby its paci.  I really can't wait to see them both interact and respond to their baby brother.

Baby boy has continued to be very active most of the time.  It's always distracting when he's moving because I love to watch and feel him.  Contractions seem to be more frequent and slightly painful.  I'm hoping with this baby that I can go into labor the "normal" way and be able to time the contractions at home.  I think I'd like to experience that at least once.  :)

This is my first pregnancy where I wake up in the night having to use the restroom.  I certainly feel for women who wake several times to get up!  Just once can be a nuisance.  But trying to get a decent night's sleep seems nearly impossible anyway.  I received a Snoogle body pillow at Christmas, but still haven't used it.  I've been debating returning it or giving it a try, wondering if it could really help and make a difference being comfortable.

I've been measuring 3 weeks ahead pretty much all of my pregnancy.  I get asked ALL the time, "When are you due?"  I'm not sure I want to see how I'll look near the end!  Two months to go!  Sooo much to do!
