Summer Visitor #1

My sister, Emily, and her kids Noah and Kate came out to Indiana for a visit right after Ezra was born.  When the baby was 5 days old we drove down to my parent's to get to spend some time with them.  Noah and Eli played like good old friends in a very "boy" way--rough and wild with each other, but they had a blast.

It was hot for early June, so the kids were happy to get to play with the kiddie pool and water guns.  Clara loves putting on a show for anyone willing to watch.  We adults brought out camping chairs and enjoyed staying in the shade.

My dad played wiffle ball with the boys.  Noah was a mini Babe Ruth and whacked the ball hard every time.  It hit my dad several times, but he took it well and was super goofy, pretending he got really hurt each time and making the boys howl with laughter.  Clara was the ball fetcher (by choice), and one time she got too close to the bat during a swing and ended up with a bat to the mouth.  Her mouth filled with blood but she was very brave and only had a small cut.

Eli and Noah helped Grandpa make homemade ice cream!  Yum!
My mom brought Emily and her kids up to Carmel one day and we met them at the Fire Station Museum.  We had never been there before and thought it was really cool!  There were several old-fashioned fire trucks, and the kids were able to play on everything to their heart's content!  We learned that you can even have birthday parties there, and the owner will take the kids for a ride on a firetruck!  We might have to do that for Ezra in a couple years.  It was a fun time, and neat to do something a little special and different.

We didn't have a lot of time together, but it was sure nice to have what we did.
