Eli's Kindergarten Year

Eli LOVED kindergarten!  He made so many friends, was a very hard-working student, and was always happy to go to school.  His teacher was unfortunately absent a good part of the time, but he was a trooper and handled it well.  While I was the parent who came and had lunch with him and helped at his room parties, David was the parent who attended special events when I couldn't take the little ones.  David and Eli attended the school's SMART night and Spring Fling together.  Those were SO fun for Eli to play with his friends outside of school.  They also were able to participate in the school's Bike-to-School Day, by riding their tandem bike.  :)

We came to the school to have lunch with Eli usually once a month (sometimes more).  Clara LOVED getting to hang out with the big kids, and Eli was always beaming with us there, giving us all lots of hugs and snuggles, and acting VERY goofy with his pals.
With his pals Parker, Beau, and Chase.

There was SO MUCH RAIN in the last month of school.  Like HUGE downpours all the time.  I couldn't believe with all that rain how blessed we were that none of his outdoor activities were rainy days.  But I did have to send him to catch the bus all on his own a few times.

Kindergarten took just one field trip, to Strawtown Koteewi Park.  Parents who wanted to help chaperone had to sign up, and then were chosen by lottery.  David was just lucky enough to be one of three for the class chosen!  We were so thankful he was.  He and Eli had a blast on the trip together.  Eli always benefits from more time with his dad!  (Pictures of this trip will be posted at a later date.  The downside of husband using film....)

Ezra, Clara, and I came and participated with Eli in the kindergarten's Field Day.  It was different than the rest of the school, only an hour and a half.  But I think that was enough to wear those kids out.  They got to play with a parachute, have scooter races, bubble wands, eat popsicles, play on the playground, fly the kites they made, and the fan favorite--ride through a "carwash."  I loved those opportunities of getting to watch Eli have free time fun with his buddies.

A kindergarten girl wanted to help Clara through the carwash, so she held her hand through it.  So sweet.  :)

All of the five kindergarten classes performed a Kindergarten Celebration for their families during the school day.  They had worked hard in their Music class preparing songs and dances.  They did awesome, and Eli sang his heart out.  We didn't get there until right before it started, so we ended up sitting on the floor in the front.  Eli performed a special song and dance with his own class, but sadly there was a mess-up of our videotaping and it didn't get recorded.  :/

Last day of Kindergarten!

The kindergarten year flew by!  Eli took to all the changes of going to school all day super well, and his teacher always raved about his behavior and his sweet, friendly personality.  I love how much he loves learning!
