We had been talking about baptism and the baptismal covenant, confirmation, and the gift of the Holy Ghost, etc. for quite some time to help Eli feel prepared for understanding this big decision he was making. When he had his interview with the Bishop the week prior, he was ready!
Turning 8 and getting baptized is SUCH a big deal in our church! Kids really anticipate it. We are so proud of Eli for desiring to follow Jesus Christ and be a member of His church. We know his baptism will bring about tremendous blessings throughout his life.
David took some pre-baptism photos of Eli so we could use one to go on his announcements.
(This was the one we loved best and used on the announcements.) Besides sending cards to family, Eli also invited the other children in his Primary class, his Primary teacher, his school teacher, his bus driver, his speech teacher, some neighbor friends, and some school friends. He is an awesome missionary!
Baptism day--
The boys with their Primary teacher, Sister Skelton.
Eli and his baptism-day twin (and friend) Cooper Rodda.
My mom gave the talk on baptism, Grandma H. gave the talk on the Holy Ghost. David baptized Eli (he had to perform it twice because Eli's foot popped up) and also confirmed him. I played the piano, and the grandpas gave the prayers and were the witnesses. After the baptism the guests were able to stay and visit for a little bit while enjoying some refreshments. I made 3 different cookies (red velvet, cookies & cream, and a gf chocolate mint), as well as a fruit tray.
We were all so happy for Eli, but I think Clara was the giddiest of all!
