Friday morning we drove down to Brown County State Park to do some hiking. It was a beautiful day, and the perfect place to relish in all the Fall colors adorning the trees.
The lake we hiked around.
Eli LOVED going on the hike! It was his first one, and we were able to borrow a backpack for him to use. He kept shrieking with glee the whole way. : )
I made sure to stop and catch a little of the beauty in the trees.
After the hike we ate lunch in Nashville and then did some shopping. It was a breezy day, but that didn't hold anyone back! The streets and stores were filled to the brim with eager shoppers.
Later in the day we met up with my sister, Rebecca, and her husband at Apple Works in Trafalgar. We toured the store, walked through the petting zoo and corn maze, picked out pumpkins from the patch, and ate yummy homemade apple dumplings.
Eli did not take one single nap the ENTIRE day (just too interested and aware of his surroundings when out and about). Somehow he managed to stay in a good mood. He never cried for being tired, he'd just get quiet and wouldn't smile. We put him to bed as soon as we got back to my parent's house, but unfortunately the missed naps affected him and he had a hard night. We were supposed to go to the Bridge Festival Saturday, but he was so cranky and we three were so tired that we had to back out. : ( I think I've only missed it one other time in my whole life! We drove on home that morning, just in time for Eli to take a 3-hour nap. : ) That evening we went to Terre Haute to visit with my cousins and grandma.
It was a packed but wonderful weekend, and a great way to celebrate Fall! We really enjoyed our time with my family, and are so grateful to have them close and see them often.
