3-0!

It's hard to believe, but David is now 30 years old!!  Woo-doggy!  It's pretty fun to be married to a much older man.  : )

Since this was a BIG birthday year, we decided we ought to take a little trip to celebrate, so we spent the couple of days before his birthday downtown Indy.

On the morning of the 8th, David woke up to these signs around the house--

Kitchen wall--

Microwave--

Front Door--

Bathroom Mirror--

We quickly headed out the door that morning to meet David's parents, brother, and Eli (who had been staying with them while we were away) at the Penrod Arts Festival held at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.  It was a gorgeous day, and Fall was definitely in the air!  I had never been there before, but it was super popular and packed!  There were tons and tons of all kinds of artists displaying their work in booths set up outside.  I only got to see a few of them before Eli became too frustrated that he couldn't touch or play with any of the displays.

Luckily there was a children's area that I was able to take him to.  There was a stage set up with different musical acts.  We sat and watched a marionette show that Eli LOVED.  He didn't want to leave the stage area, and really enjoyed listening to the musical numbers.

When I was finally able to entice him to check out some of the activity booths, we stopped at one that had a display of musical instruments that kids could play.  Eli was very much into that!

We also spent some time at the play-doh station.  Eli had never played with it before, and he was an instant fan!  We also got to take home some free play-doh!

The Penrod Festival is such a large event that we had to park farther away and take a shuttle school bus over.  It was Eli's first time on a school bus!  He was a little nervous and held onto me pretty close, but it was very exciting, too!

We went out for a late lunch with David's parents at Bazbeaux Pizza in Broad Ripple.  We ordered a half Mexican/half Mediterranean.  Mmmmm...good!

When we were back home together, David opened his birthday goodies.  Since David's a very frugal guy, we rarely buy treats, especially not expensive ones, so I always buy him a few for his birthday.  This year I bought Edy's Mango Fruit Bars, Peanut Butter M&Ms, Cracklin' Oat Bran, Nutella, a packet of Twix bars, and Mint Milano Cookies.  The birthday meal he requested from me was sourdough french toast with blueberries and powdered sugar.  It turned out even better than Cracker Barrel's!  His mom also made him a small cake made with Andes mints.  Yum!  David also received a couple polos, several burned CDs, and money towards camera equipment.

Happy Birthday, Sweets!  You might be gettin' old in number but you're very young at heart!
