Clara baby will be 11 months old next week!! Eeek! While we think she is the sweetest and cutest baby around and that she's getting so fun, it's definitely hard to think of her getting older and not being our "baby" anymore.
As I mentioned in a previous post, Clara had such a tough past month with RSV and double pink eye. Talk about sad baby! It was really hard to see her struggling so much. Thankfully though, Clara is back to great health, and happy as can be! (Though she's cutting her top two middle teeth which results in some occasional fussiness.) She is sleeping like an ANGEL lately. So, so easy. I read her a couple books before naps, rock her in my arms for a few seconds, give her a kiss, put her down, she rolls over and never makes a peep. I do the same at night, no fussing whatsoever, and then sleeps from 7-7 with NO wake-ups!! Wahoo!! Her naps lately have been so long! She's often been napping for two hours in the morning and two+ hours in the afternoon! So wonderful!

There are some wonderful benefits to baby getting older. One of them is being able to go longer between sleep periods. Clara can finally stretch to close to three hours between her morning and afternoon nap, which really gives us a chance to have a solid period of time for an outing. (And now she does so well just hanging out in the stroller with one foot propped up.) For the longest time she would start getting fussy when it got to 1 1/2 hours being awake, which really made outings stressful to get home before the heavy crying started. We have so much more peace now, it's a very good feeling. Clara's naps are at about 9:15 and 1:30-2:00ish.
She will sit for a long time and look at her books. She's really enjoying being read to now, and does a cute little bounce as we turn each page.
Another one of those benefits is baby being able to eat more table foods! Hurrah! Boy do I love being able to break up some bread and cheese, or mush up some of what we're having for dinner. It's such a freeing feeling when baby is no longer solely dependent on you for their nourishment. I know when I'm exclusively breastfeeding it can feel a bit burdensome at times that no one and nothing else can help feed my baby. Such a nice relief. (And it makes baby happier, too!) Clara has enjoyed every food she's tried. (Loves sharing apples, though mostly just sucks on them.) She does a cute little gleeful chuckle when we give her new food, as if she's just won a special prize. Darling.

Of course the not-so-fun parts of babies getting older is them getting into everything. There is no end to the messes when Clara's around. She pulls everything off tables and couches (that she can reach. luckily she's not tall enough for some spots yet). She gets into every cupboard and drawer. She always wants what Eli has (of course), so I'm constantly having to move her attentions elsewhere. She's definitely getting a stronger personality, and will fuss when she doesn't get what she wants. She HATES diaper changes, and just throws any object given to distract her. She's also very hard to nurse, pulling off every few seconds to sit up, look around, and grab whatever's around her. Thankfully Hopefully just one more month of nursing left! (She hasn't done well with bottles, so hoping we can transition to sippy cups.)

favorite spots to try to get into mischief.

Clara loves waving at other people in real life, people in picture frames, and her own reflection. : ) She's also started giving kisses, where she makes a kissing noise. She's still working on blowing kisses. She is certainly our little sweetheart!
