Are We Glad He's Our Dad!

We enjoyed a nice Father's Day as a family.  It just so happened that both of our dads were out of the country (his in South Africa, and mine in Ireland), so it was just our little group that weekend.  David spent a bunch of quality time with the kids (he's good at that), while I worked around.

The Friday before Father's Day, I decided at the last-minute to take the kids to a park in Carmel.  We were going to be there mid-day, so I texted David to invite him to meet us there for a picnic lunch.  He usually just brings a packed lunch from home, but that day he had planned to use a giftcard to buy lunch at Starbucks, and hang out at the Fashion Mall.  He put off his plans to join us in ours, and what a wonderful time we had together!  The weather was perfect, and it was so fun for us to be with David in the middle of the day.

David requested homemade yogurt parfaits for Sunday breakfast.  They turned out really yummy (and so easy, which is my favorite!).  I gave him his present--a homemade card and a frame of pictures I took of the kids, holding signs that read "Best Daddy."

There were great talks given at church, and David was actually able to come home pretty soon after church, since they decided to count the tithing during 3rd hour instead.  That was such a fun treat to have that extra time with him!  For dinner, David requested a new dish--Pork tenderloins in a peach glaze.  I added baked potatoes and honey glazed carrots.  Delicious, but WAY too much food!  We wished we had just shared one potato.  But I'm glad it turned out good.

David is a superb dad.  He is 100% committed to his family, and works really hard to provide for us.  As soon as he walks through the door after work, the kids excitedly greet him.  Instead of taking time for himself, he jumps right into being their dad, and making the moments count.

He's a HUGE help to me, and I could not parent successfully without him.  We complement each other, and he's especially good about bringing the "fun" into the play around here.

Eli & Clara both adore their dad, so very much.  We are all so blessed by his presence, and thankful that he puts up with our crazy, messy selves.

This picture always puts a smile on my face.  It was taken one evening when I wasn't home.  The joy in their faces pretty much sums up how they feel about their awesome dad.
Love you so much, David!  Thanks for always sacrificing so much for the welfare of our family.  You're our hero!
