I'm glad we have a month that's devoted to thinking about gratitude. It's easy to get stuck in a rut thinking negatively. (I for one can be quite a complainer.) Frustrating and annoying things happen on a daily basis for all of us. Some of us are plagued with much harder and trying challenges that weigh heavily on us, causing us to battle feelings of depression or anger. Even though this life is not always easy or pleasant (and far from perfect) we know that there are blessings all around us. When we consciously reflect upon these gifts we've been given, our moods and attitudes are uplifted and strengthened, and we can better see that silver lining encircling the gray clouds.
It took us until the middle of the month of November, but we finally got around to making our "thankful turkey." We added feathers to him throughout that week, and both kids got a kick out of him (he did start with both eyes... :)
I am so thankful for my crazy, messy life. My kids completely exasperate me at times, but they also make my heart swell with more love than I thought possible. They bless me beyond measure.
David is a huge support to me, and doesn't get thanked nearly enough. Though we don't have much money or fancy things, we have what we need. We have each other--an eternal family. And we have the Ultimate Gift--our Savior, Jesus Christ.
