At the end of May my sister, Emily, and her family from California came out for a visit. They arrived Saturday night the 30th, and we got to join the group at my parent's house Sunday afternoon. Eli and his cousin Noah became instant friends. Noah being a year younger doesn't make any difference when they're 3 and 4 and love the same things! They immediately started driving cars and trains together, playing "chase," and just having a grand ol' time.

Very engaged in Grammie's bedtime story.
Clara and baby Kate are also just one year apart (but a much bigger difference at their ages!). Clara l-o-v-e-d Kate and wanted to be near her whenever she was around. They were highchair buddies, but when just Kate was in her highchair, Clara would climb up Kate's chair to try to get closer. It will be so fun to watch these two interact and play together when they're a little older!
On Monday David, Becky, and my dad had to go to work, but the rest of us went to the Children's Museum. Our first stop was the dinosaur excavation site!

Kate's such a sweet, calm baby. She did so well and is such a cute thumb-sucker!
These boys loved the Hot Wheels exhibit! They could have stayed there MUCH longer!
|
The boys got so into this video game. They were bouncing and moving all over the place, completely engaged in their drive.

Trains were another huge hit!
The kids and I stayed at my parent's house on Monday, while David stayed back at home. Having downtime at their house is always the best time to talk as adults and for kids to play. Tuesday we headed to Holliday Park, in Indianapolis. We had a picnic, explored the Nature Center, then played on the playground.

The bird-watching room was a hit, as the squirrels came close for us to see.
Out at the playground, Eli quickly joined a group of older boys who were digging for worms. When I looked over they had about 10 worms sprawled out on a rock.
We sadly had to say our goodbyes there, since the park was already halfway home for me. The time together is precious, and always ends much too soon! So grateful for what we had, and for the enjoyment that we feel being together.
