Walking at Westminster

This past Sunday, David, Eli, and I went to Terre Haute with my parents to visit my grandma and to celebrate my dad's birthday.  My grandma lives in a lovely retirement home called Westminster Village.  She suffers from dementia and is almost completely deaf, so visits with her are always rather interesting.  Even if she doesn't recognize us at first, it always makes her day to have her family come by and spend time with her.  She loves seeing Eli, although she frequently mixes up his name and calls him 'Levi' instead.  : )  During our last visit, Eli became quite fascinated with my grandma's walker, 

and tried to use it himself.  :  )

Eli and my mom also spent a while walking together in the hallways and chatting with some of the other residents.  Eli will walk happily for a long time if he's holding someone's hand.  

Eli must have been a little jazzed after my dad's crazy party, (My three siblings who live out-of-state all got on video chat on three different devices to be a part of the exciting hoopla of seeing my dad receive a big gift in the form of a trip.), because he decided to WALK ON HIS OWN for us!  He was on a roll, and walked/ran the most steps he's ever done before.  We were all there watching him and cheering him on, and that seemed to make him want to perform even better for his crowd.  We took a short video to capture the moment.  

It was a wonderfully fun surprise!
