- Eli attended his first birthday party for another kid! He had fun eating ice cream and playing with the balloons (unlike at HIS birthday party), and petting a dog that was there. But he did not like seeing one of his favorite toys in the hands of the birthday girl (She received a pull puppy that Eli also owns. He was so confused as to why his puppy was all wrapped up)!
- My mom's been out of town a lot this month, so we've had my dad over for dinner a few times. HE was out of town for Father's Day, so one evening we hosted him and my sister and brother-in-law for dinner and dessert. Eli sure eats up all the attention he receives from our families!
- I had an eye exam (just so I could purchase new contacts), and was there for 2 HOURS and had to pay $150 (even though I have good insurance). Basically they did a ton of unnecessary and ridiculous tests just to steal my money from me. And believe me, it was quite the challenge entertaining Eli that whole time.
- Eli started Nursery and is lovin' it! As soon as sacrament meeting's over, Eli runs outta there and heads straight for the water fountain, where he proceeds to stick his entire face in the water. Once he's been "refreshed," he walks straight to the gym (where Nursery is held) and jumps right in playing with the toys. His favorites are the Elmo push toy and the kitchen sets (go figure).
- A couple weekends ago we spent a Saturday in Greencastle with David's family. We hadn't been there since Eli started walking, and boy-howdy did he have fun! All three of his Hayes cousins were there, and he adored playing with them. Grandma Hayes had a mound of cool cars and other neat toys to play with (his favorite was a semi truck). There are several small statues around their house, and Eli was so taken with them all! He'd go up and pat them on the head or sit by them for a bit. Grandpa Hayes is quite the builder, and years ago he built a super cool playhouse in the backyard. I can't believe I didn't take any pictures, but it even has a tunnel built into it! Eli LOVED that thing. That will for sure be a favorite hangout for many years to come. It was such a hot day while we were there so we set Eli up in a kiddie pool. Unfortunately, the swim trunks I brought for him ended up being way too big. However, Grandma H. found a pair of baby bloomers from off a baby doll, and they fit him like a glove! He looked so stinkin' cute playing.
Riding a tractor that belonged to his cousin, Ethan, when he was a toddler. He stayed on that thing forever!
Before Grandma found the baby bloomers, he was in the nude for a while, along with his pig friend. : )
Loved the sprinkler!
Really taken with the hose, and using it to fill up the colander.
- I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed on the 18th. It was such a traumatic experience for me! I even told David it was the "worst day of my life," and "more painful than labor!" Haha! In retrospect, it wasn't THAT bad, but it sure as heck wasn't peachy, either! I had terrible swelling that lasted several days. A few days after surgery I felt severe, intense pain all the time. I was confused, thinking that the pain should be getting better, not worse. Well, darn me ended up with dry sockets. : ( Thankfully I got them taken care of this week and I'm feeling almost all better!
- David and I were able to attend the temple with his parents this past Saturday. Aunt Becky was so kind and baby-sat Eli for the day. It was the first time I've ever spent a whole day away from him, and it was definitely a struggle for me. I worried about him non-stop and missed him like crazy. But I don't think he even noticed I wasn't around because he had too much fun! He and Becky (and Uncle Kyhle), went out to breakfast, shopped at Target, and they even took him to a splash park where he got to swim in a lazy river! We made it back home before he woke up from his nap, and hugged and kissed him all over. : )
- I taught my last Relief Society lesson for our current ward on Sunday. I've enjoyed that calling so much, and have gained so much knowledge and testimony from my experience. It makes us nervous wondering what callings we'll receive in our new ward!
- Speaking of our "new ward," here's a little update on our move. We are supposed to close on our house this Thursday, but it's still up in the air whether or not that will happen. Our big moving day is July 7th. And no, we have not even begun to pack. Boo. I'm really looking forward to finally having a yard! Eli's always begging me to take him outside, which will be so much easier to do in a couple weeks!
- We have had the hottest, DRYEST summer! I seriously don't remember the last time we had rain, yet we're constantly having temperatures in the 80s and 90s. It might not be much of a Fourth around here if we end up getting a burn ban! : ( I've taken Eli to our apartment pool a few times. Even though he normally loves all things water, he's always a bit nervous in the pool, and only wants to swim for about 15 minutes. : )
