On Saturday we drove 1 1/2 hours northeast to a tiny little town called Hartford City for David's brother Jason's wedding. It was held at the bride's farmhouse. It was a beautiful, clear day with blue skies, but unfortunately it was absolutely FREEZING! We didn't realize just how cold it would be, and would have greatly benefited from bringing all our winter gear. Nevertheless, it was still a beautiful ceremony with a beautiful couple! I believe it was my first wedding outdoors, and it was Eli's first wedding ever! : )
After the wedding they held a luncheon reception inside an old one-room schoolhouse. There was also a tent set up outside with a heater in it, but it was still too cold for me. We had a nice time visiting with family, and Eli of course loved all of the attention he received.
David's so funny. When he brings his camera places I don't bring mine and figure he'll just take pictures of everything, like I would. Well, not so much. Instead of getting shots of all of the scenery he took close-ups of the horses. : )
Eli looked so handsome and wore a tie for the first time! I wish we had a good picture of him in it, but this was the only one that turned out well. Sadly we have no couple pictures or family pictures of us. : (
Before we left, David and his brother, Josh, had a fun little photo shoot. Here are a couple that I liked.
Eli was perfect the whole day, and even fell asleep on the way home (which almost never happens)! Congratulations, Jason and Shanelle!
On to our weekend Part Two--
The first weekends in April and October are special to members of our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, because we have the wonderful opportunity to listen to our modern-day prophet and apostles in General Conference. It is held in Salt Lake City and broadcasted via satellite, internet, and radio all over the world. These leaders of our church give us wise and inspired counsel on matters such as Faith, Trials, the Atonement, Prayer, Repentance, Family, etc. There are five two-hour "sessions" over a two-day period. We very unfortunately missed the first two sessions due to the wedding, but David was able to make it to the third session, which is specifically for priesthood holders (the males in the Church). Thankfully we can watch, listen to, or read all of the talks again here. Maybe once I catch up on all of them I'll post about my favorite ones.
For the Sunday Conference sessions we went to my parent's house to watch them there, where Eli does not demand all of our attention. : ) Rebecca and Kyhle joined us as well, and we all enjoyed our time watching together. My mom's house was of course beautifully decked out in Fall decorations everywhere you turned, and we even got a taste of Fall with pumpkin muffins, pumpkin pancakes, AND apple cider! YUM!
Watching Conference with Grandpa M.--
Loved the dolly stroller!
Having the time of his life checking out the toy kitchen my parents just bought for grandkids. (He'll be getting his own for his birthday.) I wish I had taken a video of them playing because he was just a mouthful of giggles and squeals playing with that thing.
A terrific weekend of family fun and spiritual nourishment was had by all!
