Back in early June, our library's Summer Reading Program put on a special event for kids called "Touch-a-Truck!" I knew this was one event I did not want to miss! It was held in the parking lot of our high school. The weather was
perfect, sunny and not too hot or humid at all.
Eli was pretty darn excited to see all of the variety of trucks that were there. And they had 'em all! Firetruck, schoolbus, police car, sheriff car, garbage truck, dumpers/loaders, mailman, you name it! Basically a little boy's heaven. : ) We arrived halfway through, and it was pretty well packed. We started out having to wait in a lines for awhile to get a turn to sit in the trucks. Luckily though, the crowd thinned out quite a bit towards the end (we were one of the last ones there), so then it was really nice just getting to take our pick of trucks! Clara was a doll, and enjoyed the vantage point from her stroller. : )

Jumping around in the back of the mailtruck.

Had a lot of fun sitting on the bus with the other kids.
The firetruck wasn't open for kids to sit in, but we were able to watch them put the ladder back down at the end of the show.

Riding the mower!

Eli enjoyed every ounce of that special day, but the sheriff's car stuck with him the most. He was given a sheriff badge to wear, and the sheriff talked to him and told him to chase after the bad guys. When we left we played and ate lunch at a park. Other kids were there coming from the truck event too, and Eli and a few other boys (all in their sheriff/police badges) played Good Guys/Bad Guys, carrying each other off to jail.
How I love my truck-adoring boy!
