We went back to our house for lunch and naptime. We had BLTs, potato salad, and a red/white/blue fruit salad.
For dessert I tried a new thing that really was very simple. I brushed melted white chocolate onto cones and covered them in sprinkles before serving them with ice cream. Turned out so cute and festive (and very tasty)!
It was Eli's first time eating a cone, and I think he enjoyed it. : )
Later in the day we headed to an event called "Westfield Rocks the 4th." It began with a car show at our high school, and then activities and a live band at a nearby park. Eli and Clara loved the bounce houses! Eli even got his face painted!
I made a nice dinner, with jello jigglers for dessert. It was my first time making them, and they were pretty hard to get out of the pan. Maybe because they were in the fridge over night? Guess I should have soaked the pan in warm water for longer.
After the kids were in bed, David left with our guests to go watch fireworks in Lebanon with another brother. I wasn't jealous. It had been a long day and we celebrated well. The kids thankfully slept through all the fireworks that lingered around for some days later.
