David's Home! Part Three--Zoo Day!

We didn't have any plans to go to the zoo during David's Christmas vacation. We're not members, and it's pretty cold outside this time of year.  One morning though I just brought the idea up at the last minute, and we went!  (I twisted David's arm a little, about how we had to live it up doing fun things before we lost him to tax season . :)  It was a much milder day, and we had such fun at the zoo!  It was our first time taking Clara, and we had a ball watching her take it all in and enjoy it so much.

We spent a lot of time at the Oceans exhibit, and enjoyed watching (and petting!) the sharks, and seeing the penguins and the sting rays.

We also got good views of the seals, walrus, and polar bear.

Eli loved watching the penguins play.  He spent some time walking like one, too.  :)

We spent a little time in the Deserts, then made our way to the newest exhibit--Orangutans!  There was a  HUGE glass facility where the orangutans live and play.  I guess they're the most active in the morning, and we saw them in the afternoon, but we managed to see them play around a little bit, in-between sleeping in their nests of straw.  :)  Both kids LOVED the orangutans.  They were very fascinating.

There was no dolphin show because they were only doing them during the Christmas at the Zoo evening activities.  And the first time we walked past the door to get in it was locked!  Luckily it was opened on our way out, so we finished up with a dolphin viewing.
