The Rest of Summer

Summer flew by in a whirl this year.  With having a baby and then starting school 2 months later time really did move fast.  But we did have a terrific summer!  Ezra being such a good baby and perfect going places helped us to be able to go out and have fun every day.  Such a blessing.

One thing I wanted to do before school started was go out for ice cream as a family.  So one evening after dinner we headed to the Carmel Arts District to a place called Auntie Em's Frozen Custard.  We had only been there once when Eli was little and I had been wanting to try it again.  (Turns out it's just overpriced and nothing special.)  The kids sure enjoyed it!

There's a beautiful spot with a fountain in the courtyard of an apartment complex.  We walked over to see it.  We didn't have any change on us for Eli to toss, so he kept diving in to find money himself.  (He wasn't allowed to keep it.)  He was soaked by the time we left!

My sister Beth and her three kids spent a week at my parent's in early August.  We barely had time with them because it was right about the time Eli started school.  We spent a Sunday afternoon and a Monday at my parent's together, then when Eli was at school they accompanied me and the littles to the Children's Museum.  They also came up to play at our house and go to the creek another day.  The kids really had a ball together.

Sweet baby Rosie!

Eli's a funny kid.  He's always anticipating the next fun thing.  When I decorated for Fall at the beginning of September he immediately thought, "Halloween!!!"  He's always talking about ideas for what to dress up as.  David was joking around with him and told him that one year he just dressed up by cutting holes in a paper bag and putting it over his head.  We didn't have any paper bags, so Eli did the next best thing--
