Apple-Picking

I sadly never thought of taking field trips with Eli's Joy School class.  But it's something I'm trying to make happen this time around with Clara's group.  Our first field trip was to the apple orchard at Stuckey Farm in October.  It was a VERY warm and sweaty trip (we've had an exceptionally warm and beautiful fall), but we had a wonderful time!

Clara has the BEST Joy School class.  I am so, so pleased with the kids and moms that are involved.  We have made wonderful friends and it is really a lot of fun.  Joy School was a bit of a struggle with Eli.  He completely freaked out into a temper tantrum each month when I taught because it was so hard on him to see other kids playing with his toys.  Thankfully Clara has not once struggled with sharing, and does perfectly during class time.

I don't think I'd been apple-picking since I was young myself!  They charged $5 for a small bag of apples that you pick on your own.  Clara sure enjoyed getting to do the pickin', and we finished off our trip with yummy apple slushies.

She loved placing her apples in the bag.  She did well at carrying it until near the end when it got pretty heavy.  :)

This picture makes me laugh.  Clara wasn't wanting to have her picture taken, so I suggested she put her arm around her friend, Maggie.  Clara instead wrapped her arms around Maggie like this.  Maggie didn't mind, and it turned out so cute!  Wish I'd gotten a better picture.  David's on the left, Ryan's on the right.   Ryan's not in our class, and our other classmate Mary couldn't make it.
