Halloween

I helped at Eli's kindergarten class fall party.  It was very simple and short, just decorating sugar cookies (I made them) and there was one little activity.  So the rest of the time he got to take me around his classroom and show me everything and talk about what he showed me.  That' was great since I'm not able to be helping in the classroom as I'd like.  Clara always has fun hanging with the big kids!

We carved our pumpkin the day before Halloween.  Both kids were very excited and "helped" scoop out the inside.  (Clara would so proudly exclaim, "I got one!" as she'd go fishing in the pumpkin and pull out just ONE seed at a time on her spoon.  :)

Eli grabbed his telescope to take a better look deep into the pumpkin.  :)

Of course Ezra joined in on the fun, too!

Eli wanted the pumpkin to have a scary face.  He first drew it out on a piece of paper.  They were pleased with the finished product!

We went to our ward trunk-or-treat Friday night.  This year Eli was a police officer, Clara was a princess ballerina, and Ezra was a pumpkin.

Our view while trick-or-treating!

Halloween night was a bit of a mess.  Our trick-or-treating times for our city are 5-8 p.m.  What I wish I'd done (and will remember in the future) is make a super simple meal I know the kids will eat, and get out the door as early as possible.  Because as soon as Eli saw that kids were out he wanted to be out, too, and couldn't stand that he had to wait.  Clara had a meltdown because these days without naps she is beyond exhausted by  6:00 p.m.  It took forever for me to get her in her costume.  She kept saying she didn't want to go and wanted to stay home to give the candy out.  I knew though that she'd be pretty darn disappointed to miss out on the fun of trick-or-treating and collecting her own candy.  By the time we made it out of the house I was grumpy, and Eli wasn't much better.  :/  It wasn't a perfect night, but it turned out all right, and overall the kids enjoyed themselves.

Clara had to run most of the time to try to keep up with Eli.  She had a new burst of energy when there was candy to be had!

No smiles from Eli.  He was focused on business only.
We made it around the neighborhood, stopping in a couple culdesacs, too.  Ezra fell asleep in my arms pretty early into it.  Wish we'd brought the stroller along to place him in!

I am happy to say the candy is all gone now.  The kids were nuts with it in the house!
