Road Race

Our city changed the date of its derby car race from the beginning of October to the middle of May.  Eli and Clara again participated in the tricycle race that precedes the derby race.  Last year Clara had burst into tears after the race because she didn't know where we were (we were on the sidelines watching her), so this year I made sure to stay at the finish line.  They both did awesome!  They each had lots of fun and Eli beat out the other kids in his group to win 1st place!  (They give medals to every child, but he was still pretty darn proud of himself!  A perfect way to end his last time as part of the trike race.  (He has his heart set on building a derby car and racing with the big kids next year!  Don't know who's going to help him with that?!)  :)

Before the race begins they have all of the riders drive through in a "parade."  They then separate the kids into two groups, younger and older.  (The race is for kids under 8.) Clara was in the first group with the younger kids, Eli with the 2nd older group.

(Eli's smack dab front and center, Clara's to the right.)

After the race the kids were able to have some cool balloons made for them, and Eli also got temporary tattoos air-brushed onto each arm (bah).

Bunny ears for Clara

Dragon wings for Eli
We love taking part in fun traditions!
