David unfortunately had to work most of the week (he commuted back and forth), but I was so grateful to be able to stay with my family. Eli had never met 4/5 of his cousins before then, and boy did he have FUN! He's currently the youngest, and it was so cute how the older kids would call him "Baby Eli" and come up and rub his head. : ) He tried to keep up with them the best he could, and got very good at climbing the stairs (which I know gave me several gray hairs when I'd realize he was on them unsupervised). Eli's cousins are all so energetic and full of life, and were such a joy to be around and get to know better. We can't wait for those who are on the way!
My family went on many fun outings during the week--the Indianapolis Children's Museum, the Incredible Pizza Company, a baby shower, an IU basketball game for some, dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory downtown, etc. (Blog posts will be written more on those later.) We were also able to get some professional pictures taken at the Indiana Historical Society, where we were in the following few pictures:

While we were waiting for pictures, David and Eli came across a slinky game, that thankfully kept Eli happy in the meantime.
On Christmas Eve we ate a delicious, beautiful dinner that some of the women worked very hard on. Afterwards we held a Christmas program, that included acting out the Nativity while reading Luke 2, and singing carols in-between parts. Our little family of three were the shepherds. : )

We sadly had to miss the rest of the program because Eli started getting very upset and tired. He was being treated for an ear infection that week, but also developed a cold on Christmas Eve. After we put him to bed, we joined the group to have everyone open their one present for the night, watch the traditional black & white copy of "Twas the Night Before Christmas," eat some pie, and watch part of It's a Wonderful Life. Then it was off to bed until morning, when we'd come down to find these stockings filled with all sorts of goodies:
Well, the night didn't go as we had hoped, as Eli woke up crying about 11:00. We could tell he was in pain, and he was very overtired from lack of sleep over the week, but nothing we did helped to comfort him. It wasn't until 3:00 that he fell asleep on our bed. I think it was the roughest night we've ever had (and that's saying something!)
We had to start Christmas morning at 7:00 so we could get to church by 11:00. I got up to join everyone as they opened their presents, but Eli and David stayed in bed until Eli woke up. I was really disappointed that Eli had to miss that exciting, happy time, but it was fun to watch the other kids enjoy their presents, and the three of us were able to open ours together later.
After church we headed over to Greencastle to spend the rest of the day with David's family. We were so exhausted from the night, and Eli was feeling pretty crummy, so we unfortunately weren't able to stay long, but we did have a wonderful time, and were so grateful to be with both of our families on Christmas.
Because Eli was sick, I didn't take any pictures of him on Christmas Day in his jammies. Here he is in them, playing with one of the new cars he received (he's very much into cars these days).
