We were super lucky with our prize drawing for our summer reading program and won 8 tickets to an Indianapolis Indians baseball game! It was the perfect prize. We could choose when we went and just had to call and reserve tickets. Since we won 8 tickets we invited my parents to come with us. Our seats were in an awesome spot and we had a terrific view of the game. We went on a beautiful Friday evening in August. Ezra and Clara had never been to a ball game, and all 3 kids were so excited!
Unfortunately we didn't leave our house early enough and ended up stuck in terrible traffic on our way. Then we drove around and drove around the city to find parking. We parked in a garage WAY far away from the field and ended up taking the LONGEST WAY EVER to walk there. (We had to go around some buildings, and it turned out going to the right of them would have been so much faster, but we went to the left.) If I had thought about it, I would have given my parents their tickets ahead of time. When we FINALLY arrived we were an hour late to the game! My poor parents had of course been on time (probably early, actually), and just had to wait outside of the ball field for us for a whole hour! Ugh. I felt so bad.
But the time that we did get to spend at the game together was great fun!
Kids sure loved getting sticky with their cotton candy!
Ezra loved that he and Grandpa both had on their baseball hats. :)
There was a double-header that night, but we didn't stay long enough for the second game. When we were leaving the ball field Eli begged to play an arcade-like game.
The walk back to the car was MUCH better than the first walk! The kids just loved walking around downtown and thought it was so cool to be out at night! We all loved this statue that we passed. The kids just had to climb on it!
I love these two pictures of Eli!
Another day in August we visited my parents house and celebrated my birthday.

Clara helped me blow out the candles on my delicious chocolate chip cheesecake!
For my birthday my mom came up to babysit Ezra and gifted me this beautiful bouquet of flowers!
They joined my other gorgeous bouquet from my friend, Malerie! My first gladiolas! Boy are they such an impressive and sophisticated flower! It was such a gracious gift. I LOVED enjoying my beautiful bouquets on my table!
I met David in Castleton so we could have lunch together. He took me to a Japanese restaurant that I had never been to. It was a blast! The chef put on such a fun performance cooking our food right in front of us. We loved it!
One Sunday afternoon we drove a few minutes away to go on a hike at Cool Creek park. Gorgeous weather and a wonderful time spent in nature!
We happened upon this large hill covered in black-eyed susans. We wanted to climb right up through them.

| Eli always gets ahead of us on hikes and can get rather impatient with the rest of us slowpokes! |

Always so much to explore in the woods! I love the smell of black walnuts. Ezra loved throwing them! He also was very interested in the mushrooms he found,.
I put Ezra in his swimsuit as past visits have taught me that he always gets wet. And sure enough, at the end of our hike the kids discovered a part of the creek we haven't been to before. Isn't this picture sweet? Love when they pose together without prompting.
