Pumpkin Carving, Fun Run, & Halloween Night

What kid doesn't get super excited to carve pumpkins?!  We painted smaller pumpkins earlier in October.  Eli was SO happy that I bought him his own white pumpkin.  He carved it all by himself!

Their reactions to the lit pumpkin is probably the best part of all!

Earlier in the day before pumpkin carving we spent a long time at church having regular church meetings, staying after to fill up the font before a baptism, then staying for the baptism.  Here's a video I took during that time:

The kids' school held a Fun Run on Halloween to help raise money for projects, programs, and equipment.  Ezra and I met my mom there so we could see Eli and Clara run with their classes and cheer them on.  Clara's class was first in the morning.  Poor girl, she was starting to get sick and I could tell she was not feeling her best.  She ran with a tissue in her hand, haha! When she came home from school she had a fever.  :(  She said she was too scared to tell her teacher that she didn't feel well.  :(  After we watched Clara's run, we had some extra time before Eli's turn so we went out for breakfast at First Watch Cafe.  Eli's run was much more exciting!  He was all smiles and enthusiasm.  Ezra wanted so much to run with him!

I caught Eli mid-floss before his run began.  He immediately stopped as soon as he saw me!

Halloween was unfortunately a very cold, wet day.  It began with rain and wind and just grew colder and yuckier as the day went on.  We bundled up to go trick-or-treating in the freezing sleet and icy wind.  Clara was sick with a fever but she wanted to go out.  We made it to TWO houses before Eli and Clara were done.  They were too cold and couldn't bear to stay out.  Ezra was all smiles and he didn't understand why he couldn't get more candy!  Such a bummer!
