We stood in line for an hour before the event opened to make sure to get on the earliest hayride. (The early ones are meant to be kid-friendly.) This ride was NOT kid-friendly. Multiple times people jumped out from the trees to scare us. There were creepy porcelain dolls going around a "merry-go-round" on the porch of the Golden Eagle Inn. Ezra was TERRIFIED and hated the whole thing. I have never enjoyed being spooked, and I hate it a whole lot more when it makes my kids upset. I have no idea why they upped the scare factor this year and why they can't just leave that for the late-riders who want it. 😒
After the hayride we played some carnival games, snarfed down a large bag of kettle corn, and attended a science show. I still wish they could offer some daytime events for it. It would be so much nicer to participate in the activities in the daylight. Oh, well!
While visiting my parents during fall break, we made a little trip to The Apple Works. A variety of farm animals to see and feed, a large haystack to jump in, and delicious apple dumplings to eat made this a great trip for everyone!
I can't remember if we watched someone else successfully feed the chickens grass, or if we just happened to try it ourselves, but I surprised that they ate it! My mom so kindly paid for the kids to purchase some food to feed the llamas, but when they were bummed that it ran out, feeding the chickens grass was a perfect second option, haha!

Finished with a train ride with Grammie!
Another day we took a walk at their nearby park and Grammie and Clara participated in the storywalk along the way.
The kids found these balloons that had been left after a party.
The person who lives right next to the park has goats that we always like saying hi to when we come by. Goats are such a friendly animal!
